About Milburn Online

Our mission is to equip students with the tools needed to achieve academic success. Our goal is to help students learn today, graduate tomorrow, and prepare for the future.
We help students achieve!

Who are Milburn students? They can be students who are eligible to obtain a high school diploma or anyone who simply wants to take a few classes in our online program. Our non-traditional program and student-centered approach to education makes Milburn Online a good fit for students who have experienced difficulty in school and are looking to make a change in their lives. Upon completion of high school, our students enter post-secondary schools, the military or the workforce. As “exotic” as our worldwide enrollment may appear, we are just as likely to enroll students from local school systems. We meet people where they are… online.

Milburn High School Online is the distance learning component of NESI, a worldwide corporation. RMHS was founded in 1975 and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in 1980. In 2006, Milburn High School Online received distance education accreditation through AdvancED/SACS CASI (formerly CITA).

Milburn Online’s geographic community spans the globe as we serve eligible students from locations around the world. We have a rich history of helping students at risk, and other students who may not respond to the traditional classroom instruction. Upon entering our virtual classrooms, students immediately notice the genuine care and concern our teachers offer for their success. In addition to the support our staff provides, we clearly identify goals and expectations for individual success. Our intent is to remove any barriers to learning and to restore a new sense of hope that all students can achieve — a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA.

Using a rich curriculum, dedicated teachers and innovative technology as our foundation, Milburn Online offers all students a chance to get back on track, improve grades, and earn their high school diploma in a nontraditional learning environment. Our virtual classroom challenges every student to think, problem solve and collaborate with their peers.

Our Core Principles:

  • Milburn Online will only use highly qualified, trained and skilled teachers to deliver instruction in the virtual classroom.
  • Differentiated instruction and individual care is provided to every student regardless of socio-economic background, race, ability, or geographic region.
  • Students at Milburn Online will engage in higher order thinking (HOT) in every course. They will have the option to take Advanced Placement (AP), Career/Technical and life skills courses.
  • Parents are offered the support and opportunity to actively participate in their children’s education. Community relations and involvement at Milburn Online will engage and support the entire Milburn family by enhancing communications, creating unity and fostering a sense of partnership.

Over the past five years, Milburn Online has enrolled over 1600 students. We employ and retain highly qualified teachers, just as we do in our traditional brick and mortar classrooms. Our teachers already come to Milburn Online with the skills and academic background to teach. We support the teachers’ continued growth with high quality staff development and training relevant to today’s virtual classroom. Our virtual teachers communicate and collaborate with students via the email, telephone and discussion boards. In each course, our small student to teacher ratios ensure that every student has ongoing interaction with their peers and the teaching staff. And in January 2010, Milburn Online began delivering educational services to Job Corps students.

Since its formation, Milburn Online has developed a team of employees who are student centered and dedicated to helping students achieve. Our virtual classroom and teachers provide differentiated instruction to every student and we help students develop a sense of self worth, and the belief that a better life is enabled through education.
